EMPOWER Briefing Note - Campaign to Secure Commitments from All Political Parties to Field at least 30% Women candidates at the next General Election (GE16)
Starting November 2024, EMPOWER alongside Joint Action Group for Gender Equality (JAG), CSO Platform for Reform (CSOP4R), and BERSIH are embarking on a campaign (Projek30%) to drive political parties to field at least 30% women candidates by GE16 (2027/2028).
Our campaign has 2 prongs:
Persuade all political parties to field at least 30% women candidates at all levels, and
Drive the government to amend related electoral laws so that all political parties are mandated to field at least 30% women,
