EMPOWER Briefing Note - Campaign to Secure Commitments from All Political Parties to Field at least 30% Women candidates at the next General Election (GE16)
Starting November 2024, EMPOWER alongside the Association of Women Lawyers (AWL), Joint Action Group for Gender Equality (JAG), CSO Platform for Reform (CSOP4R), and BERSIH are embarking on a campaign (Projek30%) to drive political parties to field at least 30% women candidates by GE16 (2027/2028).
Our campaign has 2 prongs:
Persuade all political parties to field at least 30% women candidates at all levels, and
Drive the government to amend related electoral laws so that all political parties are mandated to field at least 30% women,
